Cottages & Bungalows Tabletops

June 10, 2011 3 min read 9 Comments

I had such fun creating these tabletops for the July/August Issue of Cottages & Bungalows using my very favorite FrenchGardenHouse dishes and accessories for summer. Mixing Antique and Vintage pieces for your table settings adds extra punch to any table, and is part of my "use what you have and happily mix in a few killer new pieces" concept.

Set up in our back garden, I hope you will be inspired to create some memorable, easy table settings at home. Summer offers so many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors with your guests...I hope you enjoy lots of parties and meals ouside!

Chilren's Birthday Party!

Crazy bold, for this fun children's table I mixed all the colors of the rainbow. I stacked our vintage Milkglass Compotes in the center, filled with vintage noisemakers. Our new French Polka Dot and Striped Bowls {we all love these!}, Mugs and a Pitcher for lemonade add to the fun.

French Dinner

This is such a beautiful way to celebrate a birthday, graduation, or any other special event this summer. I used our Lavande and Poivre French Dinnerware, Purple Glasses, the gorgeous Linen runner and napkins, our French Black Flatware and some great French accents throughout. For each guest, I hung a small chalkboard with their name on their chair. Fresh flowers in our wicker vase, our petite terra cuite pots filled with moss and violets, and an antique French Bottle Carrier finish this setting. All of these are available at FrenchGardenHouse.com
There is nothing I love more on a great summer night than to linger at the table with family and friends.

Friend's Tea

It's so easy to set up an elegant tea table in the garden when you want to surprise a friend who's dropping by. Here, I layered a white cloth with a length of gingham, then set out a mix of antique and vintage serving pieces filled with decorated cupcakes, cookies, and fresh fruit. Individual antique and vintage silver teapots are so that you can choose which tea you and your guest would like to drink, each of you can have your own pot.
Mix it up! Antique Victorian Biscuit Boxes mix happily with vintage green glass plates. Flowers from the garden make everything pretty. Pull up a chair, and let the girlfriend gabfest begin! These great tables below were designed by the editor of Cottages & Bungalows, Jickie Torres using some of our FrenchGardenHouse products.

Red, White & Blue Celebration

A fun tablesetting for 4th of July, this is set up for a game of bingo while the BBQ is turning out luscious burgers or steak. Our Blue French Cafe au Lait bowls are perfect to hold strawberries, the Bistro Flatware is ready to be used when the chef says it's time. Under the tree, our Grainsack pillows add comfort, while an Antique Enamelware body pitcher holds a casual bouquet.

Gardener's Lunch

Gardeners appreciate a little tender love and care, after working hard in the flower beds, offer up some sandwiches served with casual style. Here, our French Campagne Wicker serving pieces really shine! Serve a refreshing pitcher of sweet tea or lemonde, some cheese and radishes, followed by fresh fruit, and who knows, your gardener might finish that border!
