As soon as the tiniest autumn chill is in the air here at FrenchGardenHouse
I want to invite friends over for a fall coffee and long chat in the front garden.
Welcome to our first FALL MONDAY MORNING BLOOMS!
I’m so happy you are here! If you came via Mary or Pam,
it’s so nice to meet you, I hope you will become one of our circle of friends
at FrenchGardenHouse and join me often here on the blog.
Our Shirley will be back soon!
One of my favorite ways to spend a beautiful early fall morning is
under the canopy of the olive tree in our courtyard,
enjoying a cup of coffee with friends.
We usually spend at least a portion of Labor Day weekend
tidying our front courtyard and garden covered with gravel.
Our home faces a little school, and I always like to welcome the kids
back to school on our street with a tidy garden and freshly planted urns on our front steps.
Right inside our gate, you can enter the front garden from the side.
{You can see some photos of our front garden that appeared in This Old House magazine
a few years ago HERE > , since then, everything has g r o w n.}
It’s really the perfect spot to sit in September’s early morning sun
and enjoy a good chat with one or more friends.
Since our home is smallish, I utilize every single space I can for entertaining!
Flowers always make any place look enticing, this is the simplest arrangement ever,
made with:
2 kinds of sunflowers, blue veronica, eucalyptus branches and some cuttings from our front garden.
I added a glass container inside the antique bucket {lucky number 8!} for the water.
The antique French boutis quilt is layered over our aged wood table
and one of our boulangerie boards is on top to protect the fabric.
I added antique French small plates, an enamelware French coffee pot in brown stripes,
and an old wood cutlery tray holding silver forks and our wheat linen napkins.
The antique white “Give us this day our Daily Bread” Ironstone platter holds a cake
and a huge antique ironstone bowl displays luscious pears.
The best addition to this fall table setting was friends!!
I hope you take the time to entertain friends in a simple way.
It doesn’t always have to be grand – a cup of coffee or tea
a cake from the store –
and some love and care from YOU.
TABLESETTING:
*French Boutis Quilt -coming soon to the online shop.

So gorgeous Lidy! What a treat it would be to join you in your courtyard for some conversation, coffee and cake. I love the pop of purple veronica in contrast with the cheery yellow of the sunflowers. So many gorgeous details, all beautifully appointed and curated for your online shop…I’m a sucker for quilts! As always it’s a treat to join you for some flower therapy this morning. Happy September and Labor Day! <3
Lovely post, Lidy. And such a great reminder for all of us to take time to enjoy moments with our friends and in doing so it doesn’t have to be a grand affair.
Your arrangement and table are so pretty, Love the Veronica with the sunflowers. Wishing you a happy September.
Lidy, what a treat it would be to join you in your lovely courtyard for coffee, cake, and sweet conversation. I think we could spend the entire day talking. I agree with Mary, there are so many gorgeous details that accompany your happy sunflower arrangement. Your endless supply of antiques make all of your floral arrangements breathtaking as if they are not perfect all by themselves. Wishing you a Happy Labor Day and it is always a pleasure to share Monday Morning Blooms with you ?????
Thanks so much Pam, it IS a joy to spend our Monday Morning Blooms together, dear friend. If we can’t visit each other in person, at least we have the “virtual” visits. Xoxo Lidy
Lidy, your sunflower arrangement with all your beautiful items is so beautiful and inviting and a wonderful reminder that we should share time with friends. Breathtakingly beautiful Lidy.

What a delightful and delicious way to welcome friends and the kiddos back to school! I loved taking a look back at the This Old House photos of your garden. It helps having those special and unique French antiques to give everything that special touch! I plan to add some fall decor to my patio today despite the 90 degree temps. I may even try arranging some sunflowers – they are so happy!
Lidy, how wonderful it would be to sit at this lovely table and enjoy conversation, coffee, and delicious cake in your gorgeous courtyard. Your tablesetting and floral arrangement is breathtaking! I’m swooning over that sweet French coffee pot. Its colors are perfect for an autumn display. Happy Labor Day, sweet friend!!!
Donna, I agree, sunflowers are so happy! It’s still quite warm here too, in the 80’s, but the mornings and evenings are blissfully cool. Happy Labor Day! xo Lidy
The blue veronica is so pretty with your sunflowers, Lidy! And, of course, the addition of the squirrel and apple is so very September! Your French touch is always evident, and always classy. Happy September!
So beautiful and inviting! I can just imagine how welcome your friends feel when they visit and also the children as they are going back to school. Many blessings to you today!
Such a beautiful spot to relax Lidy, and there is nothing better than a simply dressed table with a wonderful flower arrangement and a tempting treat to invite friends in to linger and chat! I love how natural your arrangement of sunflowers is, and the antique bucket is fabulous!
You outdid yourself here. It’s simply gorgeous!
Let’s chat while we snack on your delightful treat!
