Care for a Tangerine Tango? COLOR OF THE YEAR

Pantone announced a few weeks ago that the “color of the year” for 2012 is Tangerine Tango, a “spirited reddish orange, which continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.”  “Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

I have to admit, it’s not love at first sight for me. Last year’s color, which I shared the color of 2011 with all of you Here, was a gorgeous bright Pink I loved.

How about you? Can you see yourself adding some Tangerine accents to your home decor? I can easily see myself wearing this color in small doses, as it is popping up everywhere from runways to large chain stores, in great clothing, bags and shoes. But in our home? Probably not.

I did find some great photos to show how this color really does make a room pop.

I actually LOVE it on this chair, the bold prints on the Turquoise wall really makes this corner of a room stand out.

These few bright spots in this white room are gorgeous, and very fresh and fun for spring.

This dining room is attractive. { if this were mine, I’d most likely paint the orange RED instead!}

Loving this color in the kitchen, it’s really is bright and cheery.

This softer version really is my very favorite.  How about you?  Do you see yourself painting a wall at home? Having one of your antique French chairs recovered in Tangerine Tango?  Weigh in and join the discussion.

    Not my favorite color for home or fashion. Orange actually makes me feel too warm! But, I must say, the touches of orange in the living room and kitchen photos add cheer and playful energy, but I’d probably still go with red. New upholstery in orange? Too big of an investment for me to even consider. I think I will enjoy visiting this color in someone else’s home. : )

    They do add cheer and energy, but I totally agree with you. I might go for a pop of orange tangerine in fresh flowers such as tulips, though!

    I love your blog!
    Love that kitchen and living room but couldn’t do it a my house. I do love the tangerine but I am already deep into turquoise and rich pinky reds to add it. Could you?

    Jessica, it sounds like your home is so fun and colorful! Pink Reds and Turquoise, such a beautiful combination.
