Watermelon Lemonade

Looking forward to a sunny, summer weekend? Then you will love this Watermelon Lemonade! The watermelon we can buy from our local grower's stand is so delicious right now, our family can eat it all day. This drink is so refreshing you will want to make pitchers full.

Simple. Delicious. Here's the recipe:

WATERMELON LEMONDADE:

  • 1~ 1/2 lbs. sliced Watermelon, {seedless}, remove the rind.
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed Lemon Juice
  • the zest of 1 Lemon {make sure you wash it well first!}
  • 1/2 cup Honey {or sugar to taste, depending on how sweet your melon is}
  • 1~ 1/2 cups cold water
  • Thinly sliced Lemons for garnish

I have done this both ways:

1. Food Processor: In the bowl of your food processor, process watermelon until very smooth. Strain through a sieve set over a bowl, to catch any seeds, push through pulp. 2. Blender: Cut watermelon into pieces and blend until very smooth. Strain through a sieve set over a bowl, to catch any seeds, stirring to push through any pulp.

In a large pitcher:

Pour the Watermelon Juice in, add Lemon Zest. In a small bowl, whisk Lemon Juice and Honey until honey dissolves, stir into the Watermelon Juice. Mix well, then add the Water. Cover and refrigerate 'til cold or you can't stand not to have some. Serve in a beautiful glass {these are our French Green Classique Glasses available here }over ice, add Lemon Slices. Yum! I have never tried to make a lemonade from water melon but after seeing your pictures I just have to give it a try.
I have planned to make a trip to my favorite farmers market anyway and will pick up a fresh water melon there.
Thanks for sharing this and have a wonderful weekend
