The Pleasure of Tea in the Garden
Celebrate the timeless art of tea at this table that takes its inspiration from the garden. I invite you to enjoy the pleasure of tea in the garden.
Today let's create an atmosphere of gracious hospitality and enjoy the pleasure of tea in the garden.
Welcome to Monday Morning Blooms!
It's summer, and my friends Mary, Pam and Shirley and I are welcoming this sun-filled season with open arms.
I am so happy you are joining me today. I've set a little tea table, tucked into a quiet spot in the garden. A small table inspired by the floral beauty of the garden in summer.
This joy-filled setting makes it easy for us to enjoy an afternoon befitting the matchless beauty of mother nature and her floral creations.
My tea table is nestled into this spot next to a canopy of Rose of Sharon blooms.
The Rose of Sharon is type of hibiscus, which you can tell by the flower shape. Ours is almost a tree by now, it's one of the few things that stayed during our complete back garden re-model. It's especially beloved for its later blooming season, it just begins flowering in July here, and will shower the garden with floral lovelies well into September.
Our pink hydrangeas are so spectacular this year!
Their fluffy crowns provide a touch of floral splendor to my arrangement of soft white lisianthus and alstroemeria.
A vintage length of gorgeous floral rayon fabric layered over a piece of silk velvet in deep purple, favorite antique plates, and embroidered antique linens set the stage for a charming tea time.
The sun filtering through the Rose of Sharon creates a dappled effect on the table setting. This is what being outside in the garden is all about!
These Charlotte plates by Clarice Cliff from long ago remain a favorite. The floral basket and scalloped rims are so beautiful, but it's the color I really adore.
I added an antique teapot, which has a completely different floral design and colors. You know me, sometimes often more is more. And if you are already surrounded by a wealth of flowers in all colors, what's a few more? The antique pressed glass footed bowl serves lemon shortbread cookies, with antique silver tongs {really for sugar cubes but they like being multi-purpose} at the ready to serve. Little fruit tarts, a pot of Earl Grey tea, and you are ready to enjoy tea.
Delight in the song of birds, drink in the flower beauty all around, and treasure the company of someone you love. You can enjoy a luxury tea experience with an extravagant bouquet of fresh blooms, and a few tea necessities.
This would be a lovely way to treat yourself, too. I know some of you are isolating and staying at home alone. It doesn't take that much effort to set the stage for a gracious afternoon spent sitting in the garden by yourself. You can take advantage of nature's splendor, read a favorite magazine or book, and savor the garden.
