One of the many "luxuries" I enjoy in life is weekend breakfast in bed. Nothing makes me feel more luxurious than listening to music, drinking coffee, and reading my book. Snuggled up in a pile of linen pillows.
Inside my head, my butler James enters, lights the fire and says "coffee is served, Madam!"....okay, maybe a little crazy. {But I AM working on having the antique French mantel Mr. FGH bought on our last buying trip installed in the center of our bookcase wall. One can dream, right?}
Getting back to weekends, and that wonderful luxury of getting up later, lingering over a French Bowl of coffee is just about perfect. Normally my work schedule makes it so I have to get up by 6:30, and on Saturdays and Sundays I still wake up then, but get to go back and enjoy a lazy hour or so. Pure bliss. Right now I love using these cafe au lait bowls, they bring a note of cheer to a chilly autumn morning, hold quite a bit of coffee, and are "very French". Being wrapped up in this Malibu throw, makes this luxurious experience even better!
Here is the recipe for Orange Marmalade from Ina Garten, I love to slather it on my gluten free bread. {it's the weekend, calories don't count} You lucky non~allergic ones can have croissants! It's not difficult to make and I hope you will love it as much as I do. I've made it with lemons, and that is very good too, if you want, you can buy a good quality jam or marmalade, but there is something special and satisfying about making your own. I hope you have some relaxing time this weekend, and maybe treat yourself to cafe au lait and breakfast in bed, too! xoxo

Those little luxuries—so French! And I love that stack of baskets.
I just sent you an email, which bounced back for some reason. I LOVE your site, and will put a big shout-out on my post next week!
Thanks, Joni! That means quite a lot, coming from YOU! xo
Love breakfast in bed. I have tried that marmalade, and while my consistancy wasn’t perfect, it was truly delicious. Always a treat to read your posts, you make my day when I get on in my email. Thanks!
I am so happy to hear that you use your bol every morning! Perfect. I hope the marmalade turns out lovely, I think this is such a great recipe, and it’s delicious.
Shh..it’s my guilty pleasure! I love this post, it makes me smile. I too have the fantasy about breakfast being brought on a tray (a tray I bought from FrenchGardenHouse). Love it…happy weekend, Lidy. :)
