I admit it, I am guilty of playing favorites. Seasons that is. Fall is by far my most favorite time of the year. Here in California it can still be hot in September, but I don’t let that deter my fall favoritism. I start pulling my fall decorations out to fill our home with the visual beauty of fall colors and textures as soon as September is on her way. It doesn’t take much to celebrate this glorious season in your home. Dress Your Home for Fall: 4 Ideas to Inspire You.
Add a fall colored throw to your favorite chair.
A favorite chair is suddenly the queen of autumn if you drape a cozy, rich colored throw over one arm.
This Lambswool beauty is just the thing, our Yorkshire Lavender Throw is made by the same British mill that makes woolens for Burberry and Ralph Lauren, the quality is sublime! Add a favorite book, a cup of tea, and you will enjoy all the pleasures of an autumn afternoon or evening.
In front of the large garden windows in the living room is the perfect place to have tea and read a few chapters. Or look at the birds. {Have you joined all of us who, because we were home 24/7-ish for quite a while, started really enjoying and looking for different birds in your garden and neighborhood? Who knew, bird watching, it’s suddenly a new thing!}
The Bronte Wool Throw is another of this season’s favorite. Reminiscent of the golden Yorkshire moors surrounding the Bronte sisters long ago in England, this Luxury Lambswool Heather Throw is the softest, most sumptuous blanket.
Use beautiful “every day” decorative accents to tell a fall story throughout your home.
Do you prefer small touches of autumn color in your home? Here are a few ideas to try. These create a more relaxed atmosphere than a huge over the top display but still have a big impact.
For this table of fall goodness, I started with an antique French Boutis Quilt, and placed an autumn flower arrangement {See it here >} in an antique blue paint firkin. Candles in old wood candlesticks, apples in the antique mustard painted caddy and the antique faience pitcher echo the colors of the French quilt. Figs, in their gorgeous deep plums are nestled on a stack of old plates, and our favorite linen napkins complete the setting. Seasonal fruit piled high always a dds seasonal ambience, don’t you think so?
Set a fall table in your dining room.
Setting your dining room table with fall accents brings the season alive instantly. Switch out your summer plates and linens, and viola, fall is here!
Our Provence Sunflower Candles add a beautiful glow to your table. These vintage butterscotch colored glass compotes with their matching plates are perfect for a small appetizer salad, or dessert. The antique mustard bowl holds apples.
Display Seasonal Faux Florals.
This seems like a no brainer, and truly, it is. But you will be surprised how one drop dead gorgeous faux floral arrangement on your mantel or a side table will lift your whole room into autumn splendor.
We all love fresh flowers, but keeping up with large bouquets in several rooms at home is a full time job. I still use fresh flowers every week, but for some spaces here at FrenchGardenHouse I use our faux flower bouquets.
Our Autumn Wild Rose faux flowers look so real! Inspired by the florists in Provence, these flowers bring a touch of French savoir faire to your mantel for fall.
The Bespoke Deluxe Dahlia Bouquet brings a touch of fall to your home if you love a bit of color! I’m completely smitten with this bouquet of rich, luscious blooms with a large deep burgundy wine Dahlias at it’s stunning center. The contrast of color and textures between the softer dark pink mums with the deep red shade of the woodland poppies is gorgeous.
We’ll be adding fall faux flowers to the online shop over the next few weeks, all one-of-a-kind creations designed with your home in mind!
I love absolutely everything about Fall! You, too? I hope these four small ways to Dress Your Home for Fall inspire you to make some small seasonal changes at home!

Fall does not come to Florida except inside my house. I love adding the colors of Fall in table linens and faux flowers, especially mums. I hope to add some real potted mums on my lanai.
I’ve pulled out a few fall items and started placing them around our home! I’m so happy that you are a new ‘baby birder’! I have loved watching them for years and always have my bird feeder well-stocked. Our Rose Society is having the owner of the Wild Birds Unlimited store in Mission Viejo as our speaker tonight!
Fall has arrived so beautifully in your home. Simple, elegant touches in each room will make you feel that crispness in the air even when the actual temps are higher than we would want them. Your exquisite fall decor so very well curated.
It feels like Fall here in the morning then the temps rise during the day, but soon will be enjoying the Fall leaves.
Shirley, it’s like that here too! Except that right now we have darker skies because of all the fires we have in California. Happy (almost) fall!
Oh Lidy, you have created the loveliest vignettes for Autumn in your beautiful home! What gorgeous post of Fall wonders.
I pray you are well and safe my dear friend
Sending love to you!
June
Hi Lidy, How wonderful it would be to see your decor. I love your style. As an Interior Designer and the owner of Amaryllis Interior Designs (now retired from) I always enjoy seeing what you are doing next and what you have to offer. Once a Designer always a Designer.
Thank you for sharing and being there,
