An elegant very early Spode pair of deep plates from the Regency period, made between 1815–1825, these antique pearlware plates reflect the refined aesthetic that defined one of England’s most important early potteries. The deep blue transfer decoration is beautifully set against the soft luminosity of pearlware, creating a striking balance of clarity and depth that remains highly sought after by collectors today.
To find a matching pair that has remained together for over two centuries is increasingly rare, adding to their appeal if you collect early English ceramics and fine blue transferware. One plate has a hand painted anchor mark { a mark made by the specific workman who made this plate} and shows a fine hairline visible only from the reverse.
