A beautiful example of antique English silver plate, this charming chocolate pot dates to 1902 and was made by Hutton & Sons. I especially love its unusual combination of elegant silver form and the wonderfully warm, hand-woven wicker handle. The pot has a graceful reeded body raised on a pedestal foot, a curved pouring spout, and a hinged lid topped with a domed finial. Its proportions are particularly lovely, giving this piece a wonderful presence on a breakfast table, tea table, or kitchen shelf.
Chocolate pots were once an important part of the ritual of serving chocolate and other warm drinks, and examples with their original wicker handles are especially appealing. The wicker handle remains in very good condition. There is one small indentation on the side, where the new lady's maid dropped it {she was so good at hair she wasn't dismissed.} A delightful and increasingly difficult to find piece, wonderful displayed as part of your silver collection.
