This beautiful antique James W. Tufts Silver Company pickle castor has the most wonderful cranberry glass insert, glowing with a rich ruby color and an elegant cushion design. Made in Boston during the Victorian era, the silver-plated frame features a graceful twisted wire handle with finial, beaded rim, four decorative feet, fitted lid, and the original side hook that once held the serving tongs. It is a lovely example of the intricate table pieces that brought beauty and ceremony to a well-set Victorian dining table.
The castor remains in charming antique condition, with the gentle signs of age that tell its story. The silver plate has a small amount of wear on one side of the handle, the original serving tongs are no longer with the piece. The cranberry glass is simply beautiful, and the detailed silver frame, lid, and feet remain intact.
