This enchanting set of six antique Gien dinner plates in the beloved “Oiseaux et Bourgeois” pattern captures that very romance. Each plate tells its own gentle story: birds gathered along garden fountains, near architectural vistas, and skies alive with movement —  in the rich cobalt blue that has defined fine French transferware for generations. 

The crisp blue decoration contrasts beautifully against the creamy white ground, framed by a delicate repeating border. They are substantial in hand yet graceful in presentation — equally beautiful layered into a blue and white table or displayed in a cabinet. Authentic 19th century French faience, in beautiful antique condition consistent with age-light surface wear, minor utensil marks as expected. A few faint glaze variations typical of early Gien production- one plate has a group of underglaze indentations not unusual for these early pieces.
