Made by the celebrated French manufactory Faïencerie de Gien, established in 1821 along the Loire, this pattern reflects the 19th century’s fascination with pastoral life, architectural romance, and nature in motion. Gien became renowned for its finely detailed transferware, often inspired by engravings and illustrated scenes of the era.

At 8½ inches in diameter, they are a wonderful size for lunch, dessert, salad, or layering with larger plates to create an inviting collected table. The scenes vary slightly, there are two each of each individual scene, this gives the set character.
