There is something wonderfully personal about an antique wax seal. This early 19th-century Georgian fob features a luminous white agate intaglio set into a gold-filled mount with elegant shell and scroll detailing. The face is engraved with a Greek key border and two initials, details that once would have been pressed into sealing wax on letters and documents. I love finding objects like this, where the original purpose is still so evident.
The white agate has a beautiful clarity against the warm gold, and the little initials make this feel especially personal. I paired the antique fob with a long sterling silver chain, allowing the seal itself to remain the focus. This necklace was created by Karen Lindner, whose jewelry is known for reimagining extraordinary antique objects as one-of-a-kind jewelry. Karen is no longer creating jewelry, making her work increasingly special to collectors.
