Details
Bring the authentic warmth and rustic charm of a French country mas into your home with this exceptional 19th Century Large Demijohn, or Dame Jeanne. Originally used by French vintners to store and transport wine and spirits, this substantial vessel tells a rich story of history and craftsmanship. Bought in France, the inner bottle is beautifully hand-blown glass, characterized by its organic, bulbous shape and the subtle, charming imperfections and air bubbles visible within the glass—proof of its antique origins. This very charming Large French Wicker Clad Blown Glass Carboy is still encased in the original hand woven reed casing meant to protect it.
The protective basketry not only prevented breakage during transport but also insulated the contents from temperature changes. The warm patina of the weaving adds incredible texture and a sculptural quality.nRare larger size, with the original two handles, one has lost its wooden covering but is still there. Use it as a floor vase for dried botanicals, as a unique side accent, or simply as a captivating object of art, this one has a dark Green bottle inside. These bottles lend such a French Country charm and textural interest to your décor. Complimentary U.S. shipping included.
