A delicious dress, this Antique French Silk Cream Christening Dress with Lace and Hand Work is lovely. Not for the perfectionist, there are some small spots of shredding, and a few spots here and there, but the exquisite lace, hand worked ladder effect and fagotting stole my heart anyway. Made with the tiniest little stitches, the hand made Valenciennes lace inserts are exceptional. The gown closes in the back with five buttons.
The silk is soft and lustrous, it is a cream color. The spots may soak out, I haven't tried to do this. The shredding is a thin on the front as shown, and the sleeve next to it. From a wonderful collection of only the best. Considering the age of this dress, I forgave this and hope you will too. A rare find - these silk gowns are almost always completely shredded. Perfect for display {I display at baby showers and sprinkles!} or for your larger French Bebe and other antique dolls.
