Antique Edwardian Silver-Plated Revolving Dome Chafing Dish
Details
A beautiful example of Edwardian tableware, this antique silver-plated serving dish has an elegant oval form and a wonderfully distinctive revolving dome. The domed cover rolls back to reveal the serving dish beneath, while the ornate feet and handsome side handles give it the presence of a special piece of formal tableware. The original pierced inner liner is still present, along with the second liner, making this an especially complete example of this type of revolving server.
The liners allow it to be used as intended, with hot water beneath the serving dish to help keep food warm at the table. The dome catches the light beautifully when placed on a dining or buffet table. Made for gracious entertaining, this was designed to keep food warm while making an elegant presentation at your table. It is in good antique condition, with surface scratches from normal age and use from years of use that add to its history and character. Its substantial presence has that wonderful old European feeling that makes your room feel collected rather than decorated.
