Beautiful 19th Century Victorian Zinc & Tin Steamed Pudding Mold with a pineapple in the center. Molds like this were used by almost every household in the 1800's. In grand homes, it was cook who had a selection of molds with which she could make jellied desserts like blanc mange and savory dishes in aspic. In smaller households, a mold like this would have a place of pride in the kitchen. 19th century cook books, newspapers, and society pages provided a wealth of delectable recipes.
This lovely mold is an early one, before later molds had the addition of copper. It has fluted sides and is topped with a stunning pineapple, the symbol of hospitality. These days molds like this are displayed for their beauty, not used for making puddings. This mold was made by A C & Co., it has the number 2 on one side.
