19th Century French Blue Opaline Glass Centerpiece Bowl
Details
A luminous example of 19th-century French craftsmanship, this exquisite blue opaline glass centerpiece bowl has all the refined elegance of the Napoleon III era. The softly rounded bowl sits gracefully on a fluted pedestal base, its sculptural silhouette enhanced by delicate ribbed detailing that catches the light beautifully. So exceptionally rare to find this large size, with an elegant shape that is simply magnificent from every angle. The rich turquoise-blue opaline glass glows with a silky translucence unique to antique French opaline, offering both presence and sophistication.
Perfect as a centerpiece filled with shells, seasonal flowers or beautiful macarons at your most gracious table. Displayed on its own as a statement of form and color, this footed compote elevates any interior with quiet grandeur. A rare and timeless decorative accent if you collect fine French glass and appreciate the artistry of 19th-century design. One side has a small inclusion in the glass, for a very early piece of opaline this is excusable, please see the photograph.
- Measures 8-1/2" x 8-1/2"h.
