Beautiful 19th Century English Hand Carved Advertising Round Bread Board and knife, made for the Allinson Bread Company, England. Allinson Bread was founded by Thomas Allinson, MD, in 1892. It was the first mill to offer whole wheat flour. This gorgeous board is made of fruitwood,
Often presented as wedding gifts, boards like this were present in many Victorian kitchens. This board has plenty of wear, patina and stories. It has the company name and BREAD carved around the rim, and an inset rounded edge crumb catcher. The knife was made by John Hall, Cutler, in the mid 1800's. A delight for your collection, use to serve bread, of course, but also pretty perfect for a petit cheeseboard for two!
