The star of this beautiful pillow is the extraordinary 17th-century French tapestry fragment at its center. Woven with shimmering metallic gold and silver threads and intricate embroidery, the fragment has survived for centuries with the softened colors, gentle wear and wonderful character that make historic textiles so captivating. The details invite you to look closely—you discover something new each time.

The tapestry is set into rich silk velvet and surrounded by beautiful antique French gold bullion fringe and tassels. The antique bullion fringe has some slight loosening in places, consistent with its age. The combination is wonderfully rich, with the old tapestry and antique bullion giving the pillow its soul and character.

I love that a fragment of such an early textile has been preserved and given a new life in a form you can enjoy every day. Plushly filled with a down pillow, this decorative wonder is in beautiful condition for its age, to be enjoyed and used in your elegant French Country home. It would be beautiful on a French bergère, settee, or layered on a bed. In very good condition, with the expected and desired aging, a little fading here and there.
