The COTTAGE Journal Spring edition is filled with a huge dose of inspiration for this beautiful season, fresh, new and right. Every article has a sense of discovery; stylish articles about environments that tell a story. I'm honored to have been able to contribute to the article of antique French enameled body pitchers.
Long a favorite of yours, {and mine too!} these larger antique French pitchers, once used to carry hot water to wash with in bedrooms and bathrooms before plumbing was common, add a punch of graphic impact, personality and a little quirkiness to your home or garden.
Above are some of the pitchers I sell at FrenchGardenHouse beautifully styled and photographed by the Cottage journal.
A pitcher is a fun way to add French country antiques to your personal mix at home without being too serious... Each one has it's own story and all the signs of wear to go along with it. Clear signs of that time that little Mignon dropped the can at the water fountain in the garden when she saw a bicycle for the first time. Or when the upstairs maid, carrying hot water for Madame's bath, tripped because she accidentally put her shoes on the wrong feet as she overslept. Each of these body pitchers have their own style, some are hand painted, some are stenciled, some are plain. Want to learn more? Read my original post about Collecting French Enamelware. If you are not able to travel to the Marche aux Puces this spring, don't worry. You can still shop like a French woman. It’s okay if everyone thinks you picked up these antiques at a French market. I won’t tell. Ps. Can't find the Cottage journal locally? Jemma, I love The Cottage Journal too, it’s always such an inspiration, isn’t it? Thanks for the congratulations too. I can’t wait for some photos of your home when you are settled in and fully “at home” there.

Lidy,
I have been returning to your online store over and over and drooling over these, well everything actually!
As we continue to settle in more and more and I know what spaces I have available I will be certainly adding a keepsake or two from one of your lovely collections.
Congratulations on being included in one of my favorite magazines.

How cool, Lidy! The pitchers are lovely and there are 1000 uses for them. That they are old and French makes them even more charming. I’m happy this magazine featured you. I get it on my Nook which was a bad move as it’s a beautiful publication. So I’m really happy that you added the link as to where I can find it.
Have a wonderful week, my friend!
Jane
