Surround Yourself with Beauty

June 12, 2012 2 min read 2 Comments

What do you surround yourself with each and every day? No matter where I am, I prefer to add a little touch of beauty! A simple rose in a glass vase, a bowl of vintage ribbons and my Mom's favorite embroidery scissors, or a beautiful book with a ribbon bookmark, these all add sweet grace notes to your personal space.

On my desktop at home, I have a mirrored tray this week, with a bowl of laces, ribbons and the scissors my Mom used for years and years when she could still see well enough to do embroidery. It makes me happy to look at it, and is a visual treat.
The antique Cherub Vase has sold, and will be on her way to her new owner, but I'll just replace the vase and cut new roses to make a new arrangement. If I didn't have a garden, I would be just as happy snipping off a few green branches from a walk outside, and arranging those in a vase. It's just a touch of nature that I need inside! Bringing a little snippet of nature inside brings joy to any place you spend time.
Here is a closeup of the bowl of ribbons and the scissors. Working on a project, I generally pile things in an antique or vintage bowl instead of a cardboard or plastic box, it's just so much prettier this way, don't you think? What do you love to surround yourself with in your studio or office for inspiration and eye candy?

That sounds absolutely PERFECT, Mimi. It’s wonderful to surround yourself with pictures of those you love, on my desk I don’t have room{!!} because I’m always needing to lay out items for sale to measure them etc. for the description, but on my little French Vanity I have pictures framed in silver frames too. I bet your desk is gorgeous. xo

I love how you have your Mom’s laces, ribbons and scissors in the antique bowl – that would make you happy during your busy days.
I enjoy fresh flowers as well and always a silver framed photo (or two or three) of the ones I love.
Bonne journée,
Mimi
