We gather on Memorial Day to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Since early ceremonies in small American towns right after the Civil War, laying wreaths or placing flags, it's a day where we as a nation mourn with the families and friends of those who lost their lives fighting to preserve our freedom.
I'm beyond grateful. As someone who immigrated from Europe with my Mom when I was a little girl, I love our country.
I love that the USA stands for freedom, for allowing people to be who they are, for embracing differences.
I love these images for their subject matter, but also for the happy memories. I love how the boats all wave the red, white and blue! And I love the photos too, for the sweet memories they hold of when our family took a boat cruise in the harbor two years ago for John's birthday.
I hope you will enjoy your family this Memorial Day. And be mindful of the families who are missing brave ones around their table daily.
I'm asking you to join me in prayer for these families. And to make a difference in their lives for the good should the opportunity present itself to you. :)
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

Marijane, thank you for leaving a comment, and thank you for the sacrifice your family makes for all of our well-being. I’m sorry that at times people aren’t appreciative of his service. Without men like him, our world would be a very different place.

I have a cousin whose son was fortunate to return from Middle East. His mother put on a brave face, but each day, she woke to the reality of whether or not, he would return as some others did not.

Hi Lidy!
Beautiful scenes and so expressive of the appreciation you and others show of those who wear the American service uniform and especially for those who do not come back.
Their families also gave their lives as they will have memories, but too often only daily silence will begin their day.

Thanks Lidy! God Bless America and those who gave their lives for our freedom.

Thank you Lidy for the beautiful post in observance of Memorial Day. How grateful I am for the many who have sacrificed for our freedom, some who gave their all and some who carry on with all kinds of wounds. Having had two of my sons serving in the military, I am in awe of those who step forward to defend this great country and our way of life. I am honored to join you and your readers in prayer for them and their families—past, present, and future.
Would love to have been on board for your harbor tour. What a great way to celebrate a birthday. The kiddies are adorable!
