MEMORIAL DAY | GRATEFUL

We gather on Memorial Day to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Since early ceremonies in small American towns right after the Civil War, laying wreaths or placing flags, it's a day where we as a nation mourn with the families and friends of those who lost their lives fighting to preserve our freedom.

I'm beyond grateful. As someone who immigrated from Europe with my Mom when I was a little girl, I love our country. I love that the USA stands for freedom, for allowing people to be who they are, for embracing differences.

I love these images for their subject matter, but also for the happy memories. I love how the boats all wave the red, white and blue! And I love the photos too, for the sweet memories they hold of when our family took a boat cruise in the harbor two years ago for John's birthday.

I hope you will enjoy your family this Memorial Day. And be mindful of the families who are missing brave ones around their table daily.
