Always inspired by nature, I fell head over heels in love with this world renowned collection of botanical jewelry. I'd love for you to meet Michael Michaud, artist, he captures all the beauty and magic of the botanical world in stunning designs meant to be worn.
Michael's jewelry has a distinct design style and impeccable craftsmanship, every piece of jewelry Michael's designs is destined to become an heirloom. His passion for nature and capturing the beauty and exquisite details of flowers and leaves create timeless pieces that will truly remain a mark of elegance for years to come.
Artist Michael Michaud attended the Rochester Institute of Technology's prestigious school for American craftsmen. He studied under famed designer Hans Jørgen Thorvald Christensen, who was a major contributor to handcrafted silver design in the United States. Michael became a master in the creation and use of molds for jewelry making. Graduating in 1980, Michael continued to perfect his craft, working with designers in New York City.
In 1991, he worked in New York City's flower district and lived in the beautiful Connecticut countryside. Surrounded by all of the natural beauty, he began blending his passion and love for designing and creating jewelry into his Michael Michaud Jewelry Collection.
His process is similar to lost-wax casting. Michael uses an actual leaf, branch or flower and creates a mold around the botanical element. As it is heated, the plant matter burns away and leaves behind a beautifully detailed mold that the artist uses to create the most exceptional jewelry.
Michael Michaud Jewellery is renowned for its beauty and workmanship and is featured in the finest museums, galleries and speciality retailers around the world. Many collections are commissioned by museums such as The Victoria & Albert Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago, The National Gallery of Art and the Château de Versailles.
I am beyond thrilled to carry a selection of his beautiful pieces here at FrenchGardenHouse. Michael's jewelry was featured in the 2019 movie "Little Women" starring Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Saoirse Ronan and Eliza Scanlon. Chosen for the beautiful floral and foliage elements, they are just as stylish when combined with the Victorian era looks as they are today, with our more casual yet elegant clothing.
Michael chooses natural elements and interprets them to create stylish and sophisticated classics that make women feel and look as beautiful as they are. He tells an exquisite story of breathtaking beauty with each piece of jewelry he designs, using nature's beauty in all its wonder.
Each delicate piece of jewelry is a wonder. The pieces are cast in patinated bronze, with 925 silver posts for the earrings. Some have fresh water pearls, like the Victorian Vine Collection shown above, others have cast glass flowers, such as the blue violet earrings below.
Along with his exceptional jewely collection, Michael designs beautiful table gems...jewelry for your table!
The gilded Herbs Napkin Rings are just so charming! And these Lavender Napkin Rings bring a touch of Provence to every table you will set.
How sweet are these two little gilded hummingbirds?! A delightful salt and pepper to grace your prettiest tables!
For more than two decades, Michael Michaud has perfected his craft, creating botanical jewelry, and now table art, by achieving the seemingly impossible: creating a mold of the most delicate, unique botanical and natural elements. He captures infinitesimally fine and lifelike details, and reproduces them as stunning, wearable jewelry.
Michael's jewelry and table art is made using soft patinas on bronze, accented with pearls, beads and semi-precious stones. I hope you take a peek, and find something you will love to wear for this delightful and beautiful season!
