Celebrating the Red, White & Blue

Celebrating the Red, White & Blue
Happy 4th of July! Can you believe the Fourth of July is here? How does each year fly by so fast?! We're having a very low-key celebration today, yesterday we sailed out on the boat to a harbor close by, dropped anchor and had dinner on the boat. When it got dark, we watched the fireworks over the ocean a day early. I set our table in the back garden for an easy BBQ dinner Celebrating the Red, White & Blue. Thank you for joining me! Celebrating the Red, White & Blue WELCOME TO MONDAY MORNING BLOOMS! Pam, Mary and I are excited to welcome our friend Sarah of Hyacinths for the Soul today to celebrate summer and patriotic summery floral designs. MMBsummer We're embracing all the summer time vibes here at FrenchGardenHouse, with lots of family and friends over to visit and the enjoy the beach, the garden, and the great weather. This table setting is one that I can easily pull together for repeat {Bastille Day is July 14th!} using mix and match antique pieces and different linens. {you can too!} The back patio is perfect for eating outdoors, the table there can seat 12 comfortably. It's my dining room that we don't have inside the house. Celebrating the Red, White & Blue 4th of July table setting While I have my "fancier" ideas at times for table settings indoors, outside it's usually much more casual, leaning towards the French Country side. This table is a mix of antique and new, English plates with French antique pottery, ironstone and transfer ware. Celebrating the Red, White & Blue blue table settings Our sunny back garden is the backdrop for this red, white and blue table. Shade cloth overhead creates a dappled sunlight, so it's not dark but not too hot either. french country napkins antique transferware I used an antique French blue and white mattress ticking as the cloth. This one is in such beautiful condition, I just couldn't bear to cut it for pillows or something. So it's draped over my table. I love seeing the hand stitched seams! 4th of July table antique red and blue plates The beautiful napkins are natural linen with a red stripe {they're new!}, the 1940's English red transfer plates are topped with blue and white deep Staffordshire plates from the 1800's. The flatware is a favorite of both Mary's and mine, it's my every day here, it's Napoleon Bee by Wallace. red white and blue table red white and blue outdoor The antique French Country blue painted garden caddy is being re-purposed as a drinks caddy today, holding a bottle of French Lillet, and little glasses for a refreshing summer drink. Celebrating the Red, White & Blue red white and blue flowers My flowers celebrate the red, white and blue! This blue and white antique stoneware pitcher is the perfect match for my bouquet of white alstroemerias, blue thistle flowers, and little red dianthus blooms. patriotic flower designs white summer flowers in French Country style I put the flowers and an antique ironstone compote filled with summery strawberries and blueberries on a stack of antique blue and white platters for extra interest. {side note...haha...I really wanted all my straws to face to the right for these photos! The wind had another idea. When entertaining outdoors you have to go with what Mother Nature says, no matter what .} antique Blue and white platters Summer's fruits are my go to dessert for summery meals. They are in season, sweet without any sugar, and everyone loves them! strawberries on antique ironstone Watermelon slices join in on the fun served up on another antique ironstone footed tureen. watermelon in antique ironstone This is such an easy to pull together table setting for summer. Mix and match what you have, or buy some antique pieces to mix in with your contemporary dishes and/or flatware. red white and blue table setting When you celebrate Independence Day today, no matter where or how, please take a few moments to give thanks in your heart and mind to our military men and women, whose service and sacrifice allows America to be The Land of the Free. 4th of July We currently have some beautiful antique blue and white pieces in the shop.
