There's no getting around it. After the holidays, the winter blues can set in. You can beat the January blues by creating a flower arrangement to brighten your home.
Outside, it may be cold and grey, but inside, you can warm up your home with one simple addition : blooms! It has been scientifically proven that flowers have the ability to elevate your mood.
WELCOME TO MONDAY MORNING BLOOMS!
I'll be linking to my good friends Shirley and Mary at the bottom of this post. Our Pam has to miss this time, but she'll be back in February!
From boosting mood to lowering stress, studies over the years have found that flowers can help improve your mental health by triggering happy brain chemicals such as dopamine, serotonin and the love hormone, oxytocin. A fresh flower bunch lightens and brightens your home interior to reflect the fresh, new year.
And flowers are just simply a gift of beauty, aren't they? Flowers just can't help but brighten up our decor.
To bring some early year cheer to our newly remodeled master bedroom, I added some bright flowers to the antique French mantel. The larger antique Delft urn I inherited from my Mom is filled with faux branches, the bright green leaves whisper about the promise of spring.
I filled a French blue enamelware with the fresh flowers. No instructions needed, just snip, place in water, and done!
Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul. - Luther Burbank
{Luther Burbank was an American botanist, horticulturist and pioneer in agricultural science. He developed more than 800 strains and varieties of plants over his 55-year career, most notably the plumcot.}
I have to tell you that I was so so surprised to find a little clutch of pink peonies at the market. Here in California we may have access to more flowers at times than in other states, but peonies only come around in May.
Our market had just two sad looking little bundles left, the flower manager said they sold out in about ten minutes! I believe it..who doesn't love peonies?! Anyway I bought the almost fully bloomed peonies for half price, because...peonies. : )
If you are having a little tiny bit of the January blues, why not treat yourself to a beautiful bouquet of flowers? They always make you smile, don't they?
ps. If all else fails: Treat yourself a little more. A hot bath, giant chocolate bar and a Netflix binge can be just the thing to spark your joy!

You are so tempting me with the new linens you have on display. They would certainly relieve my winter blues. It is so hard for me to resist.
So beautiful Lidy and it looks perfect on your gorgeous mantel. You have so many pretty pieces that add such charm to your flowers.
Cindy
Lidy, your arrangement is gorgeous and how could it not be? It has peonies. The iris buds are so pretty in the arrangement as well. I so love blooms and the quote by Luther Burbank is a favorite. Enjoy these winter days and stay on the lookout for peonies.
Lidy, you have definitely chased away the winter blues. Your mantel is stunning with the peonies, hydrangea, alstroemeria, iris, and seeded eucalyptus. The peonies steal the show in the French blue enamelware. Your sitting area would chase away the winter blues even without flowers, it is so gorgeous. A hot bubble bath and chocolate sound perfect on this very cold day. I missed being with my MMB’s friends today, but you all sure brought smiles my way! xoxo
I always love, love Monday Morning Blooms from you and your friends! They are always so beautiful and ‘uplifting’! Thank you for a wonderful start to this week!
Yes, I forgot to mention that Queen Anne’s Lace, well spotted. : ) Thank you for always adding joy to my day, and especially on our shared MMB! xoxo
I know, Peonies in January! They apparently had some in December too, but I missed those. Such a joy to have you join us again, dear Shirley. xoxo
Thanks Stacey! I have never been, it’s on my “to do” list!! xo Happy Monday friend.
Jenna, I know, they make us feel better and it’s scientifically proven. : ) Not that you and I needed an excuse, but still. Thank you for your visit…and enjoy the flowers, chocolate and movies too. xo
Shannon, Blue and White is always a beautiful and good idea, isn’t it?! Add in pink and its sublime. : ). Happy Monday to you, too!
