Antique English Staffordshire Cream Ware Pudding Cake Mold Beehive

Beautiful Antique English Staffordshire Cream Ware Pudding Cake Mold with a beehive design, made in the early 1800’s.  Molds like this were used to make steamed puddings, as well as ‘jellies’ by cook for grand luncheons, or dinner desserts. This mold is so lovely, with all the age, patina and colorations you want to see on an antique culinary piece of this age. Inside, the design is reminiscent of a beehive with a dotted design at the very top. This mold is white.

Scalloped oval shape, with delicate detailing that looks so pretty once the pudding is molded onto a pedestal plate. Glorious, it has some ‘inclusions’ {tiny discoloration bits that happened during firing in the kiln} and some hairlines as shown. Often, a new cook had a problem getting the ‘blanc mange’ or jelly out of the mold and would bang the mold on the kitchen table or counter to facilitate serving the pudding on time! After being used to make Sunday and holiday creations for over a century it is a wonderful piece of history! A heavy piece, display this beauty with your other pudding and cake molds. Sheer delight.
