Antique French Limoges Lady’s Luncheon Set

Antique French Limoges Lady’s Luncheon Set, made by CFG | CDM in 1891 for the luxury fine-jewelry and porcelain shop Tilden-Thurber & Co. of Providence, RI {in operation from 1880-1892.} A beautiful set, with the sweetest design of little pink roses, blue ribbons and laurel wreaths. Charles Field Haviland, Nephew of David Haviland, took charge of the Alluaud Porcelain Factory {one of the oldest in Limoges} in 1876. In 1881, when Charles retired, Gerard, Dufraisseis and Morel {GDM} took over the business and used the combined marks from around 1881-1900.

This set is sure to delight, it’s perfect for a luncheon or tea time for four, with its fine tea cups, plates, two bowls for lemon slices and three exceptional trays for serving sandwiches, scones and patisserie. The trays are stunning with gilded bows as handles. These days it’s rare to find a complete set like this! One of the luncheon plates has a small professional repair to its rim, seen in the last photo,  and the gilt has wear as shown which is to be expected of porcelain over 120 years old. A rare find!
