We’re dining in more than ever before, a well-stocked kitchen deserves its place in the spotlight. It seems like now, more than ever, I’ve spent more hours in the kitchen. You, too? Lately, I’ve been smitten. Pretty smitten with our own kitchen here at FrenchGardenHouse. But also with kitchens I see, especially from French friends. Their kitchens are filled with those amazing antique stoneware crocks, vintage containers, antique cutting boards, and towels monogrammed with their great granmaman’s initials. We’re all smitten with culinary antiques.
The kitchen is the true heart of the home. Gathering together to create and share favorite foods offers a welcome sense of comfort and connection.
It’s why I started buying up gorgeous French antiques for the kitchen in the first place.
When we visited Europe on a buying trip a few years back, we were invited into the homes of several antique dealers. And oh…their homes were amazing! They sell their merchandise right out of their homes, which is such a different way of selling. You could walk into their living room, point to something, and they’d sell it to you right then and there. Pretty much everything but their family photos was for sale.
Their living spaces were beautiful, but the rooms that really made my heart stop were their kitchens!
Mr. FGH gave me a look right away that said “no, we’re not going to do that at home!” Because he doesn’t really love the idea of re-arranging our home as often as a shop.
I don’t like to admit it, but I felt a little envious. And determined immediately that I wanted to up my kitchen’s decorative game. So I bought a container full of French beautiful kitchen-y things to bring back home.
I’ve been collecting these beautiful things ever since, enough to share with all of you. : )
I’m enamored and inspired by our French Kitchen Collection.
And am always excited when you buy a few things from the latest shipments to add to your own kitchens. Because. #birdsofafeather.
A piece here and there adds such charm and authentic “savoir faire” to your kitchen. So you don’t have to be envious, either.

Lidy, this is such a beautiful post. And what I love about it is that the pieces aren’t only decorative but functional, too. (Helps with the guilt gene!) Your styling is so lovely here. It’s warm and charming.
Thank you Jeanie – I love these antique kitchen items so much too! My French friends still use ages old pieces every day and their kitchens are so charming!
To me modern kitchens are cold. Love cottage kitchens with old sinks, hutch cabinets old tables and chopping boards. Your post makes me want to remodel.
I love everything you do. I have used so many of your ideas to change the look of my home and everyone loves them. I look forward to all your ideas.
Thank you so much, Kathy, that is such a compliment! Wishing you a beautiful weekend, xo Lidy
