Vintage Glass Sawtooth Diamond Point Compote Bowl with Lid

A vintage milk glass compote bowl with its original lid, raised on a footed base and finished in a sawtooth diamond point pattern that I always find so satisfying to look at. Made by the well-known Westmoreland Glass, which began glass production in 1889, it has that classic opaque milk glass presence — soft white, solid, and gently glowing rather than transparent. The diamond point pattern is deeply molded, and when the lid is on, it almost reads as one continuous form. You don’t really notice where it separates, which is part of its charm.

It’s one of those pieces that naturally belongs on a table or sideboard. Imagine it holding French cookies, macarons, or something simple and sweet for tea, or bath salts in your guest bathroom. It doesn’t rely on being used to feel special. Even empty, it has presence. The shape, the lid, and all that beautiful patterning make it feel like something you want to keep out and enjoy every day. Marked with the intertwined W and G that Westmoreland began to use in 1946.{last photo shows it styled with another vintage milk glass piece}
