Rare Antique White Ironstone Crenelated-Edge Cake Pedestal or Cake Stand, with a beautifully scalloped sawtooth edge. Made in 1845 by Jacob Furnivall of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. Stands like this, especially the early ones that have a potter's mark on the bottom are almost as rare as unicorns. Gorgeous, this has been used by generations for their most beautiful cakes.
Not perfect, if it was perfect the price would fetch around 1,600.- This one has an area on one scallop that was fixed where a new maid dropped it after a sumptuous cake was served on it long ago. You can see the fix in the photographs. I upped the contrast to high so you can see this isn't perfect. A rare treasure for those of you who collect ironstone.
