Rare Antique White Ironstone Crenelated Edge Cake Pedestal Stand

Details

Reserved for Amanda

A truly rare antique white ironstone cake pedestal with the most beautiful scalloped crenelated edge. Made by Jacob Furnivall of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, between 1845–1870. Stands like this, especially the early ones that have a potter's mark on the bottom are almost as rare as unicorns. Imagine this lovely stand gracing generations of celebrations, holding the most beautiful cakes for family gatherings and special occasions.

It is not perfect; long ago, after a celebration cake had been served, a new maid accidentally chipped one scallop, and that small repair remains part of its story. The area is shown in the photographs. Its small imperfection is a part of its life story. A beautiful treasure for the ironstone collector who appreciates antiques that have been loved, used, and passed down through generations.

Collector’s Notes.

Early marked Jacob Furnivall ironstone is highly sought after by collectors, especially rare serving pieces like this elegant cake pedestal.

Pieces with their maker’s marks are increasingly difficult to find and bring a wonderful connection to the gracious art of entertaining from another era.
