Large Black Scalloped Tole Tray with Hand Painted Pansies & Lily of the Valley

Incredible Large Scalloped Tole Tray with Hand Painted Pansies & Lily of the Valley, such a beautiful and rare to find tray. The shape is very unusual, with lovely scallops around the perimeter painted with gilded flourishes. But it's the central bouquet of flowers where this tray really shines. A stunner, made of mixed flowers that are all our favorites, from little purple pansies, lily of the valley sprays, cream cabbage roses, a large frilled tulip, to morning glory vines, a tiger lily, fuchsias and other garden flowers.

Painted on wood, in the earlier part of the 1900's the painting is exceptional. Very small areas of loss to the surface, nothing detracting, there is a bit of paint missing on the very bottom of the rim as shown. This is truly a spectacular tray for your collection. I'm confident you won't find another like this one. Whether you hang it on your wall or display it on a stand {it's large enough to just place on a sturdy side table} this beauty will take your breath away like it did mine at a recent brocante. Impressed mark Francis Martin on the back.
