Details

This large First Quality antique Meissen serving platter is a wonderful example of the artistry that makes hand-painted porcelain so special. Soft pink roses unfold across the white porcelain, each flower carefully painted with delicate shading and fine detail. Meissen porcelain painters traditionally begin by lightly sketching the design before applying the colors by hand, building the flowers petal by petal and leaf by leaf. It takes years of training to master this kind of porcelain painting, and you can see that care in the graceful movement of the flowers.

This platter dates to the Pfeiffer Era, 1924–1934, and bears the Meissen mark on the back. Its generous size gives it a lovely presence on a dining room buffet or sideboard, where the pink roses can really be appreciated, or bring it to the table when you're serving something special. A First Quality Meissen piece like this is one you'll enjoy not only for its beauty, but for the artistry and history that come with it.
