Large Antique Limoges Hand-Painted Serving Platter with Scalloped Gilt Rim
Details
This beautiful antique Limoges serving platter was hand-painted by Tressemann & Vogt between 1892 and 1907 and made its way to America through Burley & Co. of Chicago, a prestigious importer of fine European porcelains. Getting quite rare to find larger pieces of true Limoges like this, the design is fresh and timeless even today. Soft floral bouquets are scattered across the porcelain surface, while the graceful scalloped rim is highlighted with raised gilt scrollwork that catches the light beautifully. The gilding shows gentle wear in places, a reminder of more than a century of celebrations, gatherings, and special meals.
A platter like this was made to be enjoyed. It may have held pastries for afternoon tea, Granmere's cake at holiday dinners, or another favorite family dessert brought to the table for birthdays and celebrations. Those traces of use are part of its story and part of its charm. Today this wonderful survivor of antique Limoges porcelain artistry brings instant refinement to your table settings, sideboard display, or your porcelain collection - it brings a sense of history, beauty, and effortless French elegance to your home.
