Elegant Antique French Sterling Collar 6 pc Dinner Knife Set, Monogrammed, Belle Epoque era. These all have beautiful monogrammed handles, made of bone. Each knife has a beautiful sterling collar, or ferrule. Marked Grange Jeune Paris on each blade, made by Laurent Garirias, of Thiers, France, and marketed in Paris. Each knife has its original steel blade {not stainless}, these old knives look beautiful with antique silver flatware. Will add a bit of personality to your table!
Often rare to find, silver flatware sets were a traditional wedding gift in France but did not include knives. Giving knives was thought to 'cut' a relationship, so knives were sold seperately, and meant to be purchased by the bride and groom themselves. As you can see in the images, there are tarnish and/or corrosion spots on the blades, and three of them are slightly darker than the other three. A few thin darkened hairline cracks in some handles but no breaks or other damage. Please only adopt if you love antiques with the grace of time. These will look amazing with your own sterling forks and spoons.
