The beautiful green-aqua color of this French Solidor preserving jar is reason enough to find a place for it in your home. Made in France in the early 20th century, it features embossed lettering and a hinged wire-bail closure, details that speak to its original purpose in the French kitchen. This particular shade of blue-green looks especially lovely with old pottery, well-worn wood and natural linen, bringing a fresh note of color to your room filled with treasured antiques.

In your kitchen, pantry or breakfast room, this French glass jar can hold wooden spoons, display a few flowers from the garden, or simply stand on an open shelf alongside your favorite pieces. Once an everyday household necessity, it now brings French history and character to your home. The most inviting rooms are gathered over time, with objects chosen not just for how they look, but for the pleasure of living with them for years to come.

Collector’s Notes.

Solidor belongs to the history of French glass preserving jars produced during the early 20th century. The Verrerie de Folembray, a historic glassworks in northern France, continued the production of related Solidex preserving jars after the Verrerie des Islettes closed in 1936.

These sturdy aqua glass jars, designed for household food preservation, reflect a period when reusable glass containers were essential in French kitchens. Their embossed lettering and distinctive closures give them enduring appeal as functional antiques for today's collected home.
