Lovely early Cobalt Blue Transfer Plate made by Wedgwood, in the Etruria Works in Stoke-on-Trent, England, between 1891- 1904 especially for the American market. The plate has a wide border of roses around a central scene of soldiers fighting on the battle green, the design is The Battle on Lexington Common. It was at this site that the opening shots of the Battles of Lexington and Concord were fired on April 19, 1775, starting the American Revolutionary War.
A very special addition to your collection of antique blue transfer ware or flow blue pottery. Display this one in a gentleman's office, on your French buffet, or anywhere else a touch of blue is just the thing!
