A charming and increasingly difficult to find antique French Vieux Paris porcelain sugar bowl and creamer, beautifully decorated with exquisite hand-painted portrait miniatures on a rare apple-green Sèvres ground. This delightful pair features vibrant apple green backgrounds, enhanced with elegant gilt accents and finely rendered oval portraits of graceful ladies — each painted with the skill and delicacy that collectors prize from Parisian workshops of the 18th century.

Completely hand-decorated, the creamer and sugar bowl display ornate handles with hand-applied gilt trim, adding both elegance and charm. While originally intended for sugar and cream, they are equally delightful displayed with a small bouquet or admired as decorative works of art, making them a romantic and whimsical addition to any antique porcelain collection.

Discovered in an old château estate in Europe, this enchanting set is a lovely survivor from the golden age of French porcelain. The incredible quality of this creamer and sugar bowl is indicative of the factories and artisans around Paris from the mid 1700's to the end of the second empire. The sugar bowl has a small chip to the rim, discreetly concealed when the lid is in place — a charming reminder of its long history.

Collector’s Notes.

During the 18th and 19th centuries, numerous workshops surrounding Paris produced what collectors today call Vieux Paris porcelain. Inspired by the famous Vincennes porcelain manufactory and later the renowned Manufacture nationale de Sèvres, these ateliers created unique works prized for their hand-painted portraits, vibrant colors, and gilt accents. Many pieces were unmarked, leaving each surviving example a rare and highly desirable work of art, treasured by collectors of fine French porcelain worldwide.
