Fabulous Antique Majolica Round Footed Trivet Plate, made around 1870, most likely by Wedgwood, although this earlier piece does not have marks. A tortoiseshell glazed center is bordered by golden yellow rope, the sides have a cobalt blue band which ends in another golden yellow rope border. This has a beautiful crisp mold with beautiful coloring of deep cobalt blue, green, golden yellow and brown.
The glaze is glossy. Use this for display, or to serve your world famous muffins or croissants at the table. In very good antique condition, you can see the three kiln indentions on the top of the piece, where the potter placed it on three small cones for firing, a small chip under the foot- where it is darker on the photo. Love this one, a true find for your collection.
