Details
Beautiful kitchen antiques reveal a little of how people lived long ago, and this late 19th century ironstone pudding mold is such a charming example. Marked “The Queen’s Pudding Boiler No. 18,” it was one of the many sizes made for preparing puddings by boiling the filled mold in a hot water bath. The number 18 refers to the size of the mold, and today its lovely bowl shape makes it especially wonderful as a decorative antique. I especially love these little molds for the character they bring to a kitchen—they are small, useful reminders of the rituals and rhythms of cooking long ago.

After more than 120 years of hard work in the kitchen, it has developed the wonderful patina that makes these old ironstone molds so appealing. There is some discoloration, age patina, and a fine hairline on the bottom, all shown in the photographs. I would never want to take away those signs of its history—they are part of what gives this little mold its grace and character. Please choose it for your collection if you love kitchen antiques with a little age, a little history, and plenty of decorative charm.
