A generous urn filled with soft pink roses is painted across the arched metal dial, the flowers retaining their gentle colors against a beautifully aged background. I love the combination of the graceful shape and the loose, painterly flowers; it has the appeal of an old botanical painting, with the added character of an object that once had a practical place in a European home. Measuring 12" wide by 17" high, it has lovely presence on a wall.

Antique clock dials were often decorated to complement the interiors for which they were made. Floral motifs, including roses arranged in urns, brought a softer decorative element to the architectural lines of a clock case.
