Antique French Athènes Plates with Ribbon Garlands & Roses, Set of 6
Details
I fell for these beautiful antique French deep plates the minute I saw the pretty ribbon garlands and roses in those gorgeous deep pink and merlot shades. The pattern, called Athènes, was made by Moulin des Loups & Hamage, a respected French faience maker based near Lille in northern France. The company was part of the region’s long tradition of fine ceramic making during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and their tableware is still loved for its beautiful decoration and quality. These deep plates are wonderful for soup, pasta, salads, or anything you’d like to make feel a little more special.
A set of six like this is such a lovely find for a French-inspired table. I especially love how the romantic rose and ribbon border looks layered with other antique dishes, creating that collected-over-time feeling that makes a table so inviting. Each plate is marked with the Moulin des Loups & Hamage factory backstamp and is in good antique condition, with the natural signs of age you would expect from French tableware of this era. Each plate is marked with the Moulin des Loups & Hamage factory mark on the back and is in good antique condition, with the natural signs of age that make old French tableware so charming.
