From the historic Savoie region of southeastern France, this antique pottery bowl brings a wonderful dose of rustic French character to a collected home. Hand-glazed in earthy tones, it has a wonderfully irregular shape, gentle crazing, and an unglazed exterior with a beautiful aged patina. Little pops of glaze and the natural wear from more than 100 years of use give it the honest character we love in old French pottery. Marked “30” on the side.

The petite size makes it especially versatile on a kitchen shelf, tucked into a cupboard, or used at the table for serving. I love the way the unglazed exterior has aged over time—it gives this humble French bowl a warmth and depth that cannot be reproduced.
