Wonderful decorative Antique French Gilt Ormolu Jewelry Casket with beveled glass top. In the late 1800's and early 1900's these boxes were sold as Grand Tour Souvenirs to traveling nobility or wealthy tourists. The top glass of this one was engraved with the owner's monogram, E. H., the year 1901 and H. Mas. {perhaps a special gift of love?} A gem to display on your vanity to hold your diamonds, or two little paper wrapped chocolate bonbons.
The glass is set in diamond pointe gold plated brass, which has patina and aging. The silk pillow is intact with wear and shredding as shown. Kissed by the grace of time, there is a small damage to the back glass panel, the metal base is highly ornate and has wear to the gilt, it may not stand 100% as straight as it did over 100 years ago.
