Antique French Aqua Green Glass Canning Jar L'Ideale

This antique Idéale canning jar has the lovely aqua green tint that makes old French glass so appealing. Its softly colored glass, original-style wire-bail closure and fitted glass lid give it the honest character of an object that once belonged in an everyday French kitchen. These glass-lidded jars with wire-bail closures were widely manufactured in the years leading up to World War II, before modern refrigeration and plastic food storage became commonplace. Today, it brings that same sense of history to your home, whether displayed on open kitchen shelves, in a pantry, or among your favorite antique pottery and serving pieces.

Use it to hold wooden spoons, gather garden clippings, or simply enjoy its beautiful color against a backdrop of aged wood, natural linen and well-loved kitchen antiques. The embossed lettering and patented closure add an interesting chapter to its story, while the understated shape makes it easy to incorporate into a collected home. It is a wonderful reminder that the most enduring interiors are built over time, with objects chosen for their character as much as their usefulness.
