Antique Book Tell-Tale From Hill and Dale

Gorgeous antique book, Tell-Tale From Hill and Dale, a true Victorian masterpiece filled with beguiling children's prose and nine full color chromolithographs that are so delightful! Originated and illustrated by A. Hochstein and verses by Mrs. Laura E. Richards, printed by Nims & Knight, Troy. N.Y. A true gem, the illustrations are so beloved that just the images sell for 68.00 or more per piece. I just can't bear to rip this book apart, after it was loved, read over and over by generations of children. Each illustration is comical, and shows animals in all sorts of situations that befit the verse stories.

Included are: The School, Guy Gobbler & Daisy Duck, Fox & Stork, Donkey Dirk on Ice, Mrs. Mc Owly's Boarding House, Each one to His Taste, The Polite Stranger, A Family Jar, High& Dry, Mrs. Cackle's Valentine, Spider & Staghornbeetle, Needless Alarm, The Barefooted Frogs, Kitty Catching a Tartar, Preaching & Practicing, A Question, Miss Nightingale, The Lunch Party, and The Hospital. The cover has plenty of wear as shown, especially on the corners. It has done a good job protecting the illustrations and all the pages, there is a very minimum of foxing etc. The binding visible between a few, this book is true treasure for those of you who collect and adore children's books.
