Soft pink flowers, delicate gilding and the unmistakable charm of hand-painted French porcelain give this Old Paris cake stand its lovely character. Dating to the 19th century, it has the individuality that makes early porcelain so appealing, with each flower painted by hand and given its own expression. The graceful raised form is perfect for serving a favorite cake, arranging summer fruit, or adding an elegant touch to the table.

The soft pink palette and finely painted flowers have the prettiness of a French dessert table, while the gently worn gilding gives it the patina of years of use. Pair it with antique silver for afternoon tea, mix it with simple white dishes, or bring it out when friends gather for dessert. This antique has two small old repairs to the outer edge of the rim and a small fissure, all shown in the photographs, along with expected wear to the gilding. Old Paris, or Vieux Paris, refers to porcelain made by numerous Parisian manufacturers during the late 18th and 19th centuries.

Much of this porcelain was left unmarked, and its hand-painted decoration, distinctive shapes and varied colors are what make these wares so appealing to collectors today.
