19th Century Majolica Plate Ferns and Flowers

An exceptional 19th-century French Majolica plate, hand-molded with lush green ferns and lavender flowers against a warm brown ground. The richly layered glazes—emerald, celadon, and lightest lavender—capture the depth and vibrancy that define fine French Majolica of the late 1800s. Each leaf and petal is highlighted in shades of deep emerald and celadon green, hand-glazed with the luminous depth that makes antique majolica so beloved.

Unmarked, the mottled green and brown back glaze is typical of French Majolica, particularly from Sarreguemines, Orchies, or Onnaing, dating circa 1880–1895. The warm buff-colored clay body also points strongly to French production, as many French factories of that period used a pale stoneware base. This plate is a superb example of the artistry and craftsmanship that made these faïenceries world-renowned. A stunning decorative accent or addition to your Majolica collection. We have a few of these stunners.
