19th Century French Limoges Moss Rose Cake Plate

Collectible Antique French Limoges handled Cake Plate or Platter, in the much beloved Moss Rose pattern, one of the oldest and most desirable patterns. Featuring the beautiful romantic pink rose buds with blue gray fern leaves, the stems and ferns have a feathered appearance. The heirloom Moss Rose was a favorite flower in the early 1800's, every lady desired it for her own gardens. Sweet with a covered bud, Moss Rose porcelain was highly favored from the early 1800's to the end of the Victorian era.

This serving plate has trailing berries and leaves outlining the cut out handles, trimmed in hand applied gilt, it dates to the early 1800's. The roses were first transfer printed, then hand painted in soft, sweet colors of Pink, light Green, Moss Green, and Blue. Lacey foliage highlights the flowers, such a beautiful presentation, a gracious way to serve your best home made cakes and sweets to guests, and a lovely plate to display with your collection. Wear to the gilt as shown, this is almost 200 years old, the design is stunning.
